Cobalt Roughing End Mills are Cobalt End Mills but with a crest and valley or wavy edge to their flutes giving them greater strength at the cost of your parts surface finish. Cobalt Roughers are great for quickly removing material or “roughing” before going back over the part for a finish pass with another tool. Just remember to leave enough material after roughing to engage your finish end mills flutes for a cleaner surface finish.
